Sadly, there are very few of us. Less than 900 nationwide. And at any given time, I've no idea who's taking new patients and who's got a waitlist. All I've got is my list. You'll need to make the phone calls to find out who's available. My list of New York area clinicians features some psychiatrists who are Black, Latino, Asian, and White. All are people I've met in person, or trained with, or heard good things about. None accept insurance. Why? That's a whole discussion about insurance companies, reimbursement, parity, US healthcare policy and its shortcomings. My short answer: be prepared to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed by your insurance later.
